About this project

“Van Binnen” is a series that Akkerman created for a weekly column in the NHD/Alkmaarsche Courant newspaper. Between 2014 and 2015 he portrayed 51 people.

A series of portraits of fascinating personalities from the North Holland region that appear every Saturday in the NHD/Alkmaarsche Courant. Intriguing stories/interviews with an accompanying portrait that tells a story on its own.

Black-and-white and raw, highlighting the uniqueness of each individual.

Unique is individual, Together we are all distinct.

The photos were printed large in the newspaper with a deep interview. The exposure did not extend beyond just the newspaper.
