After exploring various jobs and fields post-graduation, he discovered his passion for photography in 2007. Captivated by the challenge of capturing emotions, atmosphere, and movement in a single frame, Rick began photographing people at diverse events and parties, realizing his calling to become a professional photographer.

In 2008, he launched Picturick Photography, uncovering the rich diversity of humanity through his lens. Rick’s passion grew as he captured a wide spectrum of human experiences, from joy and love to sadness and cultural vibrancy.

The rise of mobile phones with high-quality cameras in 2013 prompted Rick to adapt. He expanded his focus to business-, extreme sports-, 360-degree photography, and photoshoots on location, rebranding under his own new Rick Akkerman Photography to make it more personal.

With an innate talent for visual storytelling, Rick quickly made a name for himself within the local community and beyond. His distinctive style blends technical prowess with an unwavering commitment to authenticity, resulting in images that resonate deeply with viewers.

Today, Rick excels in portrait, documentary, concept and extreme sports photography. He strives to capture emotions in his images, working with light to imbue each photo with a specific feeling. Rick’s technical expertise and artistic vision merge to create harmonious and impactful images.
